In such an open environment, once the sexual attitudes of restless international students undergo a dramatic change, shouldn’t their opportunities for sex be higher than their peers in China? A few days ago I saw a rather embarrassing post debating whether international students have more frequent sex than their domestic peers.

The students below split into two sides and began arguing. The scene was quite intense, almost like they were about to get into a fight.

As a seasoned international student, I think there’s absolutely no need to fight. Some people have a higher frequency of intimacy than others, and besides, many of them are devout Christians who didn’t have sex before marriage.

As someone who studied abroad for eight years, let me now break down the frequency of occurrence:

Those who say that international students have a higher frequency of sexual activity than their peers in China have some merit.

However, people who have a high frequency of casual sex fall into two categories: those who have long-term romantic relationships and those who have a long-term penchant for casual sex.

The first type:

When I was studying abroad, some senior students told us as soon as we entered the university that it was a poor and remote place, and all we could do every day was study, exercise, and date.

I didn’t believe it at first, but then I realized that there really wasn’t much else to do besides these things.

Especially later I found that the girls who entered the university with me were being taken away by upperclassmen one by one (it really proved the saying “beware of fire, theft, and upperclassmen”). Of course, in addition to being taken away by upperclassmen, there were also girls who were flirted with by their classmates.

In short, couples have sprung up one after another among the freshmen, really spreading a lot of PDA. Just a casual glance on campus is enough to cause you a lot of pain.

Parents on the other side of the world are often unable to reach their children, and American schools are particularly open to this.

The second type:

These people discovered a fourth thing besides exercise, studying, and dating: going to bars!

There’s a bar street near every school, so you can attend classes during the day and go to bars at night without missing a beat.

That place was practically a hookup paradise. Two people hit it off, got drunk, grabbed each other’s hands, and disappeared off to have some fun.

I have a friend who met a handsome white guy at a bar and then took him straight back to his dorm.

Okay, let’s continue. After they did something indescribable that night, they met up a few more times, and then they broke up.

Later, I asked her how it felt to go on these dates, and she casually told me, “It’s alright, anyway, you can’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

My jaw nearly dropped to my heels, but I still genuinely admired her open-mindedness and carefree attitude. (Applause is appropriate here)

There are quite a few people on American campuses who engage in the same kind of casual sex game as her. After all, they are free from parental control, can bring people back to school dormitories at any time regardless of gender, and can also rent apartments on their own.

Moreover, being trapped in a small mountain village and alone in a foreign country, it’s understandable that he would choose this way to comfort himself.

Because they have more freedom and less companionship than their peers in China, some choose long-term, stable relationships, while others choose long-term, stable casual sex… 😓

However, it must be said that the frequency of sexual activity among these international students is higher than the average level of their peers in China.

Students who have frequent sex can be divided into two types: those who are too busy to even have a moment to spare, and those who don’t know how to flirt with girls.

The first type:

These students are usually focused on their studies and have few desires, because they dedicate all their energy to their teachers.

Especially for science students, it’s not that they don’t want to have fun or find a partner, but that they have to face a pile of papers to write, experiments to do, and countless problems with incorrect calculations every day.

These people also have to endure the mental torment of “due day,” leaving them with no time to sleep, let alone have a sex life! Not to mention flirting with girls or guys and building long-term revolutionary friendships.

I have friends like that; they’re always in the lab, classroom, library, or dorm. They can’t escape these places, sometimes staying there all night, especially in the days leading up to exams, when they can even fall asleep standing up.

You’re so exhausted, how can you have time for romance? In the end, all you can do is bitterly console yourself: my major is my true love.

The second type:

Many of the students studying in the US are shy young men and women who have just escaped the hardships of high school in China. They don’t know how to flirt with girls, how to give lipstick as a gift, or how to drink, play drinking games, or play other games.

A girl who blushes to the roots of her ears when talking to a member of the opposite sex might be quite popular, but she might not be attractive to boys and could basically say goodbye to sex.

Another possibility is that some methods for flirting with girls in China don’t work in the US , because whether it’s WeChat’s “People Nearby,” Momo, or Tantan (forgive me, that’s all the hookup apps I know), none of them work in the US.

If it’s a big city, it’s fine, but if it’s a small mountain village, a search will only find classmates you see every day, or girls and boys who are far away. They can only feel silent and heartbroken.

Actually, categorizing these people as those who don’t know how to flirt is a bit of a stretch. After all, once they adapt to the environment and learn the language, they can quickly figure out the tricks and become the kind of people who engage in long-term hookups.
