When they exchanged papers, the revelations were staggering. Julian discovered that Maya craved a lighter, more sensory touch and wanted to explore restraint. Maya discovered that Julian carried a deep weight of performance anxiety; he was terrified of not pleasing her, which was why he stuck so rigidly to the routine that “worked.”
